English Premier League clubs are known for their historical backgrounds, and Arsenal are one of them. The club is based in Islington, North London, England. Since its establishment, the club has gone through different stages. The club's past was full of turmoil, as its last Premier League win was back in the 2004 season, when they ran a riot on the other Premier League clubs and achieved the Invincible title, as they won the Premier League title without losing a single game, and made the history of being first Premier League club to achieve that.
In the 2024-25 season, Arsenal was one of the top contenders for winning the UEFA Champions League, as they dominated mighty Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, but in the Semis, they faced Paris Saint-Germain, where they fell short, as PSG dominated them, and secured their spot in the finals. Under Mikel Arteta's management, they have some glories, such as FA Cup and the Community Shield, but in the major glories, they are just dreaming of conquering, and the dream remains a dream. Arsenal history is one of the most beautiful histories that they boast the most.
In October 1886, Scotsman David Danskin and his fellow munitions workers in Woolwich formed this club with the name of Dial Square Football Club, in the heart of the Royal Arsenal Complex. Each member donated sixpence, and David Danskin added three shillings to start the club. Dial Square FC played their first match against the Eastern Wanderers. The club was renamed in January 1887. Woolwich Arsenal started their journey from the second division, and soon they were promoted back to the first division of English football. The club was managed by the founding members, and soon they were on the verge of bankruptcy, as they were again relegated to the second division for the last time.
In 1913, Arsenal, soon after the relegation, the club moved to a new stadium, Highbury, which they renamed Arsenal Stadium. In 1919, the Football League controversially promoted one of their arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. And that season after the new takeover, the club spent record-breaking fees, and they quickly became known as, the Bank of England club. After a few years spent in the newly introduced Premier League, the club signed the most successful manager in Arsenal history, Arsene Wenger, in 1996. The club was soon to be started, known as the Gunners, which later became their nickname. In Professor Arsene Wenger's tenure, Arsenal won multiple glories and became the first English club to win the league unbeaten. Professor Arsene Wenger left the club in 2018, and since then, he has not managed any club.
The post-Arsene Wenger era was a turmoil for the Gooners, as Unai Emery became the new manager of Arsenal Stadium. Despite signing stars like Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, Alexis Sanchez, and introducing some upcoming stars such as Bukayo Saka and Tomiyasu, the club was falling apart. Unai Emery and his lads won the FA Cup, but that was not enough for Arsenal, as he was sacked by the club's hierarchy. And introduced their new manager, Mikel Arteta.
