Cole Palmer overtakes Kai Havertz in Premier League goals for Chelsea

Cole Palmer scored four goals as Chelsea hammered Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Monday, April 15.

Cole Palmer’s Dominance Leads Chelsea to Victory

The Blues came into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at Sheffield United. However, they had a brilliant start on Monday as Palmer scored a stunning goal in the 13th minute. He then doubled their lead in the 18th minute before completing his hat-trick 11 minutes later.

Nicolas Jackson scored in the 44th minute to make it 4-0 for Chelsea at half-time. Everton failed to create any pressure in the second half as well. They gave away a penalty around the hour mark, fouling Palmer. After a scuffle between Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson for wanting to take the penalty, Palmer took the ball and scored his fourth of the night.

Alfie Gilchrist then completed the scoring in the 90th minute to make it a comprehensive 6-0 win for his side.

Cole Palmer has now scored 20 goals in the Premier League this season for Chelsea this season. This is higher than Kai Havertz’s combined tally for the club in three years!

Havertz joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 and scored 4, 8, and 7 goals in his three respective seasons at the club, making his total to be 19. The now-Arsenal man also provided seven Premier League assists for West London side, while Palmer has provided nine so far.

Overall, Havertz scored 32 goals and provided 12 assists in 139 games across competitions for Chelsea. Palmer, meanwhile, has recorded 23 goals and 13 assists in 38 appearances so far.

Mauricio Pochettino hails Cole Palmer after Chelsea’s win over Everton

The Blues signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City last summer for £40 million. The youngster has had a brilliant contribution to a struggling Chelsea side this campaign and has been their best player so far.

He showed his prowess against on Monday, scoring four goals against Everton. After the game, manager Mauricio Pochettino heaped praise on Palmer, saying:

“The impact on the team was amazing from day one. We always expect the best with everyone we sign, so it has not surprised us. He was always the player with the capacity to score goals, even in Manchester City.

“But the way he adapted himself and the way he is playing and performing is fantastic. It is amazing for the team, amazing for him, and shows that the club made the right decision by signing him.”

Chelsea will next be in action against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, April 20.
