England vs Belgium Preview

  • Tournament – International Friendlies
  • Date – Tuesday, March 26
  • Kick-off Time – 07:45 pm GMT
  • Venue – Wembley Stadium, England

England will host Belgium in the second and final friendly of the international break on Tuesday evening. England fell to their first defeat in 15 months after Brazil secured a 1-0 win in their last game on Saturday. This will be England’s last game before a provisional Euro 2024 is announced next month.

England will have a home advantage for this friendly game. But they have lost their last three games against the Red Devils. The absence of Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka in this break would definitely pose a threat going forward.

Belgium, meanwhile, are unbeaten in 11 games under Domenico Tedesco. They dominated the European qualifiers this year, managing six wins and two draws and going unbeaten in their respective group.

England manager Gareth Southgate is expected to make some changes as the injured trio of Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, and Sam Johnstone left the England camp to join their respective clubs. Youngsters Rico Lewis and James Trafford earned a promotion to the senior squad. Brentford’s Ivan Toney is expected to start up front due to the absence of Harry Kane who’s out with an ankle injury.

Belgium, on the other hand, are expected to be without their record goalscorer Romelu Lukaku who sustained a groin injury in his last game. Jeremy Doku and Dodi Lukebakio bid to force their way into the winger positions. Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski will be expected to start between the sticks after he made his debut for his country in the tie against Republic of Ireland.

While both sides have managed to qualify for the UEFA 2024 Euros, England will have a better chance to win this friendly tie. The Three Lions were beaten 1-0 at the hands of five-time world Champions Brazil on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Belgium struggled in recent times but has gone unbeaten in their last eleven games and qualified for the Euro 2024 with ease. Manager Domenico Tedesco will be aiming to secure a win before his side prepares for the Euro 2024 in Germany.

Both teams are evenly matched but England will have a slight advantage with some top-level international stars on the roster.

Predicted Score: England 2-0 Belgium
