The Gunners secured a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby but have seen winger Bukayo Saka subbed in the 86th minute and getting replaced by youngster Ethan Nwaneri.
Arsenal will begin their Champions League campaign against Europa League winners Atalanta on Thursday before meeting rivals Manchester City in a blockbuster weekend clash. Manager Mikel Arteta would be relieved if Saka is available for at least one of those games.
Saka was the provider of Gabriel Magalhaes‘ header midway through the second half and Arsenal could be without one key player ahead of the trip to Atlanta on Wednesday night.
When will Bukayo Saka return from his injury?
The Arsenal winger limped off the ground with five minutes remaining after he fell to the turf with some discomfort. Saka has already bagged four assists this season and any serious injury at this stage would be a huge blow for Mikel Arteta and his squad.
The Spaniard explained that he didn’t know why the winger needed to be substituted against Spurs.
“I don’t know. I made two changes with the front players and suddenly he’s down. I looked at the bench and the options that we had and we had to adapt. I don’t know exactly what it is but he could not continue.”
The Gunners will now face Atalanta on Wednesday and the manager would be hoping that Saka’s is only a minor one.
