Carlo Ancelotti gives update on Real Madrid’s transfer plans
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated that the club has decided against signing a central defender and central midfielder in this summer transfer window. Los Blancos have brought in Endrick and Kylian Mbappe and won’t make further signings in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
“The squad is closed and now we have to wait 12 days for it to finish. We don’t need centre-backs because [David] Alaba will recover soon and properly,” Ancelotti told reporters.
“We also have young players ready to play for us. Unfortunately, Joan [Martinez] is out injured, but we also have Jacobo [Ramon] and [Raul] Asencio. They can make a contribution in some matches.”
Real Madrid only have two senior centre-backs available in Antonio and Eder Militao, whereas David Alaba is still nursing his ACL injury and will return later this year. Club legend Nacho has opted to leave this summer, whereas youngster Joan Martinez is still fresh off a serious knee injury.
