Darwin Nunez dismisses Liverpool exit rumours amid Arsenal transfer speculation

Despite recent rumours, Darwin Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, is reportedly committed to staying at Anfield. While there were reports suggesting interest from other clubs, particularly Arsenal, Nunez currently has no interest in leaving Liverpool.

As a result of Nunez’s limited playing time this season – only 18 minutes, speculations sparked that he might be unsettled and contemplating a move away from Merseyside. However, sources close to Nunez indicate that the striker remains content at Liverpool and is focused on his future with the club.

Although new manager Arne Slot has preferred Diogo Jota to lead the line for the Reds, leading some to question Nunez’s happiness, those within the club maintain that the Uruguayan striker is adapting well under the leadership of Arne Slot.

Adding to the clarity, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that there is “absolutely nothing” happening between Liverpool and Arsenal regarding Nunez. This statement effectively dismisses the rumours that Arsenal might be considering a late bid for the striker as the transfer window nears its close.

Liverpool search for attacking reinforcements

Liverpool, on the other hand, are set to enhance their attacking options after a relatively quiet start to the transfer window. The club is nearing a deal for Italian attacker Federico Chiesa, following Juventus manager Thiago Motta’s statement that Chiesa is not part of his plans for the 2024/25 season and should seek a new opportunity.

Liverpool have agreed to a fee of around £11 million for the 26-year-old, with his medical scheduled for this morning. Chiesa is versatile, and capable of playing on both wings and in central roles. There is speculation that he might be brought in to provide backup for Mohamed Salah on the right wing.

Salah, who is entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, has yet to sign a new deal. The Reds are therefore interested in acquiring a viable alternative for the right wing, both as immediate cover and as a potential successor to their star player if he departs in the future.
