Kevin De Bruyne rejects $1.3 million per week deal, commits to Manchester City

Manchester City‘s star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has made a definitive decision about his future by choosing to stay with the club despite a massive offer from Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad.

The proposed deal was worth a staggering £1 million per week ($1.3 million) and was tempting too but De Bruyne ultimately decided against it after thoughtful discussions with his family.

The Belgian international had considered the financial benefits of the offer especially as he nears the later stages of his career. At one stage in his career De Bruyne said:

“At my age you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that. If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet.”

He noted the incredible sums involved which could have been life-changing for his family for generations. However, family concerns including the stability and education of his children played a crucial role in his decision to remain in Manchester.

Guardiola Delighted by De Bruyne’s Decision

Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola expressed relief and happiness at De Bruyne’s choice to stay.

The midfielder who has been a key player for the team reassured fans and the club that he has no intention of leaving despite the lucrative offer.

De Bruyne’s commitment is a significant boost for City as they look to continue their successful run in the Premier League and European competitions.

Recently reflecting on his time in England De Bruyne said:

“It’s hard to say now (what my next move will be). We will be sitting around the table in the coming months. I signed my contract at the right time. If you get a good offer and you tell Pep you want to leave, that is possible.”

“This may be different at other clubs. But I have never indicated that I want to leave. I have more than enough money. But if an absurd amount comes… that is also for my family, my relatives, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren and my friends.”

While De Bruyne remains focused on his City career Guardiola also addressed rumours about other players including goalkeeper Ederson potentially moving to Saudi Arabia.

The manager acknowledged the speculation but emphasized the importance of players making decisions that are best for their careers and personal lives. For now, Manchester City supporters can breathe easy knowing their star playmaker is here to stay.
