Al-Hilal superstar Neymar has included Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in his dream five-a-side team. In a recent interview with 433, the Brazilian superstar picked a star-studded side. Apart from Messi and Suarez, Neymar included himself and two Brazilian legends in his team.
Who has Neymar picked alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez?
Neymar named Julio Cesar as his team’s goalkeeper. The Brazilian custodian most notably played with Inter Milan and was an integral part of the Nerazzurri‘s treble-winning 2009-10 campaign.
In defense, the Al-Hila forward picked his former Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain teammate Thiago Silva. Silva is one of the best defenders of the modern era and has played for clubs like AC Milan, PSG, and Chelsea during his illustrious career. He has also captained Brazil for a considerable period.
In the attack, Neymar picked himself alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The South American trio wreaked havoc on opponents during their time together at Barcelona and won the European treble in 2014-15, their first season together. Fans affectionately called them the MSN and they had a few epic battles against Real Madrid’s legendary BBC trio.

Facing the MSN trio is a nightmarish proposition for any backline. With the inclusion of Silva and Cesar, Neymar has made sure his five-a-side team are defensively as stout as they are in the attack.
Luis Suarez claimed Neymar had to stay by Lionel Messi’s side to fulfill his potential
Neymar is arguably one of the most skillful and talented footballers ever. The Brazilian joined PSG back in 2017 for a world record 222 million Euros. Luis Suarez feels his former teammate made a mistake by leaving Barcelona. He reckons staying by Lionel Messi’s side would have been beneficial for the Brazilian. Suarez told Clank! last year (via GOAL):
“We were very good friends, and we knew if we fulfilled our roles on the pitch, we would make Barcelona great. If one of us did not play well, the other two would make the difference. It was a spectacular relationship. We told him it was a mistake to go to PSG. If Ney wanted to be the best, he had to stay by Leo’s side. But, he made his decision, and it left a void in the team.”
After his PSG stint, the skilled Brazilian is currently at Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. However, he has barely played for the Saudi Pro League giants and has been out of action since October 2023 due to an injury. Neymar also missed Copa America 2024, which took place in the USA earlier this year. Brazil were eliminated the quuarter-finals of the competition.
