La Liga champions, Real Madrid want to sign French centre-back William Saliba from Premier League club Arsenal in the next transfer window, to bolster their ageing defence reports, Fichajes. Los Blancos have had sent scouts to watch Saliba in action against Aston Villa in a Premier League match in August.
In search of a proven defender, they have identified the 23-year-old Arsenal player as a potential transfer. Carlo Ancelloti has a big headache with limited options in defence following the departure of Nacho this summer, David Alaba has regular injury concerns and Eder Militao failed to keep himself fit for long.
The French International had a phenomenal campaign with the Gunners last season, playing every single minute in the league. He helped the club to finish as runners-up in the league, nearly missing the Premier League triumph. Subsequently, Saliba was named in the PFA Team of the Year for 2023-24.
After failing to sign Leny Yoro, who chose to join Manchester United over Los Blancos. Thus, Madrid wants to bring Saliba to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2025. Nonetheless, Saliba can be a significant addition to Los Blancos squad with his quality he can potentially become a success in the Spanish capital.
However, Mikel Arerta won’t be happily convinced to give away one of his key players to the Spanish Giants. The Frenchman is under contract at Eithad until 2026, and the Premier League also wants to keep him in their pursuit of Premier League triumph.
It remains to be seen, whether the centre-back would be keen on the idea of moving out of England to join the La Liga outfit. Despite signing for North London club in 2019, the French player joined the club in 2022 following three loan stints in Ligue 1 with Saint-Étienne, Nice and Marseille.
