Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, better known as Real Madrid, is recognized for its European dominance. Based in Madrid, Spain, the club was founded in 1902 as the Madrid Football Club. Since its establishment, the Real Madrid players have traditionally worn white kits. The team, competing in La Liga, has several nicknames– Los Blancos (The Whites), Los Merengues (The Meringues), Los Vikingos (The Vikings), La Casa Blanca (The White House), and Reyes de Europa (Kings of Europe).
After a long, successful coaching spell of Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid appointed club legend and former Bayer Leverkusen boss, Xabi Alonso, as their manager after a dismal 2024-25 season. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will support the new head coach to bring back the glory days.

Early Days: Real Madrid history dates back to when football was introduced first time to Madrid by academics and students of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, which included several Cambridge and Oxford university graduates. On March 6, 1902, a new board was made by Juan Pardos, who established the Madrid Football Club. Real was one of the founding members of the Spanish domestic league, which is famously known as La Liga, in 1929. The club was renamed as Real Madrid after three years of its establishment.
Santiago Bernabeu Tenure: The famous president of Real Madrid history, Mr. Santiago Bernabeu, took over the helm in 1943. Soon after, Real Madrid stadium Santiago Bernabeu, and its training facility, Ciudad Deportiva, were constructed. Real Madrid home ground has hosted many memorable fixtures. The creation of the European Cup, now known as UEFA Champions League, was the idea of former Real Madrid President Santiago Bernabeu.
Lorenzo Sanz Tenure: In 1998, under the manager Jupp Heynckes, Real Madrid conquered the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Juventus 1-0 in the final. In November 1999, Vicente del Bosque became the manager of Real Madrid and went on to win several trophies, including the Champions League and La Liga.
Florentino Perez Era: In 2000, Real Madrid's current president, Florentino Perez, came to power. He is famously known for introducing Galacticos with Madridistas. Perez was behind the signing of Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazario, and Luis Figo, who joined from their arch rivals, Barcelona.
Current Era: At present, Real Madrid is arguably the most successful club in Europe. After Florentino Perez, Ramon Calderon became the new president of Real Madrid and appointed Fabio Capello as the manager. The move, however, didn't click well. The club also started to struggle financially, leading the board of directors to re-elect Perez, who then signed the present-generation superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Tony Kroos, Luka Modric, and Karim Benzema, and some legendary managers like Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and Zinedine Zidane.
