The 26-year-old Romanian attacking midfielder started for his side against Netherlands and required immediate medical assistance after a nasty collision inside the box just three minutes into the tie.
What happened to Ianis Hagi during the tie between Romania and Netherlands?
The Romanian attacker sustained a gruesome head injury after catching an elbow from defender Denzel Dumfries which drew blood from the top of his skull. The medics rushed to the field and the player was forced to leave the pitch for treatment on his head.
Within three minutes, Hagi returned to the pitch sporting an unusual headgear and was ready to continue the last 16 tie against Netherlands. The medics put a net over his head to keep the bandages in place and believed it was the right choice to stop the flow of blood.
