Defender Ben White called a cheat by Brighton fans after Arsenal’s resounding 0-3 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on matchday 32.

Why was Ben White called a cheat by Brighton fans?

Arsenal took on Brighton & Hove Albion away from home on matchday 32 in a match where securing three points was necessary for the Gunners to stay in the title race. Following up on their impressive 2-0 against Luton Town midweek, the Gunners showed up in similar form and managed to win the tie against Brighton comfortably by a 3 goal margin. However, the game was marred in controversy after an incident. 

The moment which has enraged several Brighton fans involved  Ben White and Pervis Estupinan in an incident in the 51st minute. The incident saw Gunner defender White push Estupinan as he jogged past him. Angered, the former Villarreal left back responded by pushing White which saw the Gunners defender fall down in a rather exaggerated manner holding his throat. While White got up and continued playing normally, the incident saw Ben White called a cheat by Brighton fans.

Several Brighton fans took to X (formerly Twitter) which saw Ben White called a cheat in numerous posts. Some even went as far as calling the defender’s conduct disgusting and called for a ban on White. Officially, there has been no complaint filed neither have Arsenal or Ben White responded to the criticism.

Apart from the incident, Arsenal had a convincing outing against Brighton at the Amex stadium and inched one step closer to the English Premier League title. The victory saw the Gunners climb to the top of the table and they will stay there at the end of Matchday 32 as Liverpool dropped points against Man United in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford earlier today. 

Arsenal came out strongly and a Bukayo Saka penalty saw the Gunners take the lead in the 33rd minute. What followed was absolute domination by the Gunners goals by Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard saw the London side cruise to a 0-3 victory at the Amex stadium.

Arsenal continue on their rampage and will face 19th placed Burnley away from home in the league next weekend. The Gunners will also be in action midweek as they take on Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions quarter finals first leg.
