England 5-0 Ireland Player Ratings: Ruthless Three Lions demolished 10-man Ireland

The home of Three Lions, Wembley Stadium witnessed a goal fest as England thrashed the Republic of Ireland 5-0 to secure automatic qualification to the League A of the UEFA Nations League.

Following a quiet first-half action, goals were raining after the half-time mark starting with Harry Kane’s penalty in the 53rd minute opened the floodgates then Anthony Gordon and Conor Gallagher also joined in goal-scoring.

Impactful cameos from Jarrod Bowen and debutant Taylor Harwood-Bellis added two more goals to the scoreline making it 5-0 on the night at the full-time whistle. Lee Carsley guided the team to the promotions in his final match handing over the duty to Thomas Tuchel.

Meanwhile, for the Irish, it was a game to forget despite the positive start and a good first half. However, Liam Scales sent off shifted the entire momentum in England’s favour. Irland simply could not do enough down to 10 men from enduring an embarrassing defeat 5-0 loss.

A second start for England after an impressive debut, the midfielder had a decent game something to build on for future appearances.

Noni Madueke – 7

The winger gave Irish defenders a tough time constantly charging down the flanks and progressively carrying the ball inside the box from the right side. A goal in the game would have been cherry on top.

Jude Bellingham – 9

He was everywhere on the pitch, dropping deep or moving around the box to create chances. He worked hard and earned a penalty kick, which gave his side an advantage in the second half and produced two assists.

Anthony Gordon – 7.5

Newcastle United star Gordon extended the lead to 2-0 by calmly steering the deflected cross from the right flank into the back of the net and celebrated his first ever International goal for England.

Kane sent the Irish keeper the wrong way from the spot to put his side ahead slotting home an exquisite penalty and added 69th goals in the England shirt.

He came off the bench and made an instant impact with the left-footed finish glazing past through a crowded box.

Goalkeeper

Caoimhin Kelleher – 5.5

The Liverpool keeper leaked five goals in the second half though he cannot be blamed for all the goals.

He lacked the conviction to go forward or maybe follow the instructions of the coach to stay compact in defence.

Mark McGuinness – 6

Surely not the debut the Luton Town defender would have expected but tried his best to clear out danger at the back.

Nathan Collins – 6

Collins was the first one to arrive to clear the danger and as the game progressed he drifted into the midfield to play the pivot position.

Liam Scales – 6.5

The Celtic defender saw a red card after picking up the second yellow following his foul on Bellingham in the box as he tripped with the trailing leg giving away a penalty.

Callum O’Dowda – 5.5

He was all right in defensive aspects and made a few clearances and recoveries halting the attacks.

Midfielders

Festy Ebosele – 6.5

He did show glimpses of his dazzling on-the-ball ability and skipped past several Englishmen but produced no end product on that move.

Josh Cullen – 7

He played for 76 minutes and was decent in passing, crossing and delivering long balls and also played 4 passes into the final third.

Jayson Molumby – 5.5

He could not create any significant chance playing as a creative midfielder and lost possession twice.

Sammie Szmodics – 5.5

A poor outing from Szmodics failed to make any impact on the game in attack or defence.
