Belgium vs Israel Player Ratings: De Bruyne Stars as Belgium Triumphs 3-1

Belgium started their 2024 Nations League campaign with a victory. Playing at the Nagyerdei Stadion, Hungary, Kevin De Bruyne scored a brace, while another goal was scored by Youri Tielamans. However, Timothy Castagne committed an own goal in the first half, making the opponents steal a goal to end the match with 3-1 on the score line.

Koen Casteels (6.7/10): It was due to Belgium’s obvious dominance on the ball that he did not have a busy goalkeeping.

Defenders

Timothy Castagne (6.8/10): His own goal was the only minor thing he did in this game.

Wout Faes (7.6/10): Showed a solid defense alongside Theate at the back.

Arthur Theate (7.5/10): Intercepted and cleared the ball off of his area.

Maxim De Cuyper (7.6/10): Put more options in Belgium’s attacking plan.

Midfielders

Amadou Onana (7.8/10): Continued his positive from at the club level, solid game from Onana.

Youri Tielemans (7.7/10): Played his role in the midfield tremendously, alongside De Bruyne and Onana.

Kevin De Bruyne (8.3/10): Caused havoc in the opponents’ area by scoring two goals.

Forwards

Dodi Lukebakio (6.7/10): Couldn’t show his best performance in this game.

Jeremy Doku (7.7/10): Put a lot of pressure on the opponent’s defence to create chances.

Loïs Openda (7.5/10): Despite failing to score a single goal, Openda helped Belgium to put pressure on the opponents.

Substitutions

Zeno Debast (6.6/10): Came in for a tactical issue, and maintained the lead until the final whistle.

Charles De Ketelarae (6.7/10): Couldn’t score a goal when he had some potential chances to do so.

Arne Engels (6.6/10): Showed promising signs to give a better contribution in the future.

Julien Duranville (6.7/10): Couldn’t be as explosive as Doku but still helping enough.

Johan Bakayoko (6.7/10): Replaced Lukebakio with the expectation of scoring a goal but failed to do so.

Omri Gandelman (6.6/10): Found it hard to deal with the Belgian players on the flank.

Raz Shlomo (6.5/10): Couldn’t keep up with the quality of the opponents’ players.

Idan Nachmias (6.5/10): Did all his best to claim the point but the level gap was real.

Midfielders

Mohammad Abu Fani (6.5/10): Overwhelmed to keep up with the likes of Tielemans, Onana, and De Bruyne.

Neta Lavi (6.7/10): Not good enough to give the level that Belgium could feel annoyed about.

Denny Gropper (6.5/10): Struggled a lot to work on the flank side, and had to leave early due to an injury.

Sagiv Jehezkel (5.9/10): Went head to head with Doku which was not easy for him.

Forwards

Oscar Gloukh (6.5/10): Failed to score a single goal when his team’s only goal came from an own goal.

Manor Solomon (6.6/10): Several of his chances were denied as his space to launch shots was also limited.

Anan Khalaili (6.6/10): Did not give enough problem for Belgium at the front.
