Chelsea star Conor Gallagher’s asking price revealed

Conor Gallagher is yet to be offered a newdeal by Chelsea and reports sugest they are keen on seling him. The Blues are looking to raise funds by letting go of Academy products as it counts as ‘pure profit’ on the books.

According to a BBC report, Chelsea still believe they can get £50 million for Gallagher. The midfielder is set to enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and talks over a new deal have yet to begin.

Tottenham and Newcastle United are interested in getting Gallagher this summer, but the Englishman is yet to show any interest in leaving. Spurs tried to sign him last summer too, but the move was rebuffed by the midfielder.

Mauricio Pochettino, the former Chelsea manager, was quizzed if he wanted to keep Gallagher at the club during the season and the Argentine admitted that he was powerless. He stated that the decision was all on the board and the Sporting Directors and said:

“I am not involved. I do not know nothing. You can see. My starting XI, the whole season he has always been there, in all of the circumstances he is always there. I am not involved in the decision. It is a situation they need to fix between the club and the player.”

When quizzed why he was not pushing for the contract, he added:

“Because there is nothing to win for me. What am I going to say? I am the head coach. My job is to coach the team and to pick the decisions for tomorrow, for the starting XI and squad, and try to improve the players and try to win games. That is my job.”

Pochettino left Chelsea earlier this week after a mutual agreement.

Joe Cole wants Chelsea to hand new contract to Conor Gallagher

Joe Cole has insisted that Chelsea should be handing a new deal to Conor Gallagher this summer. The Chelsea legend does not see a reason why the midfielder should be sold and said:

“Conor Gallagher can’t leave. I know there are issues financially but Conor Gallagher has been brilliant, from start to finish. Everyone has turned up in the last few weeks but Conor, you see a great player when he is playing in a struggling team. Conor was still there, captain as well. I think it is imperative that the club keeps him.”

Gallagher played 50 matches for Chelsea last season and missed just one match – the 2-1 Premier League loss to Manchester United after picking up 5 yellow cards.
