Merseyside giants Liverpool FC were replaced at the top of the English Premier League standings as they succumbed to a 0 – 0 draw at home with arch-rivals Manchester United in game week 17 of the EPL. Arsenal smoothly moved to the top of the table as they were vibrant in a 2–0 victory at home against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Here’s how the English Premier League table looks after completion of match week 17.
Arsenal tops the table while Man City drop points
North Londoners Arsenal went top of the Premier League table as Liverpool slipped up elsewhere with a sound 2 – 0 victory over minnows Brighton & Hove Albion.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have seen some of their invincibility stolen off this season in recent weeks as they dropped some points and slipped to 4th in the Premier League table. Their poor run of form continued this past week as Manchester City drew 2 – 2 with Crystal Palace at home.
Second-half goals from Cole Palmer (54′) and Nicolas Jackson (61′) were enough to give Chelsea FC the win over Sheffield United at their home ground Stamford Bridge this past Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC went into this weekend as favorites to win over arch-nemesis Manchester United at Anfield. But, unfortunately, past form meant nothing as Liverpool was held to a goalless draw by United in a game with Diego Dalot receiving red.
Luton Town team captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the field for the second time this year after suffering from a cardiac arrest mid-play during the game between Bournemouth and Luton Town. The game was subsequently abandoned due to this medical emergency on a dramatic day in the Premier League.
