Manchester United wish to sell Hannibal Mejbri, Rangers interested

Manchester United are open to selling their 21-year-old midfield prospect Hannibal Mejbri. The Tunisian midfielder signed for the Red Devils U18 side in August 2019 from the junior team of AS Monaco. The skillful youngster has been a part of the Old Trafford-based club since then.

Mejbri is known for his versatility, being an impactful player in three positions – attacking midfield, central midfield, and right-wing. Despite having good skills and nature to adapt well, the player has never really caught the attention of the coaches. He even went on short loan spells to Birmingham City in 2022 and Sevilla FC in January 2024.

Hannibal returned from Sevilla FC this transfer window, but with more advanced and experienced players in the United squad, he is unlikely to be included in plans. As per multiple reports, Mejbri is expected to depart on a permanent deal from the squad of the EPL giants.

According to a report in Football Insider, Scottish side Rangers FC are highly interested in the midfield prodigy. However, it would be “tough” for the Rangers to lure Hannibal as they are out of the UEFA Champions League and will be missing out on the competition prizes, thus creating financial hindrances.

Man Utd head coach Erik ten Hag recently shared the side’s plans for the remainder of the transfer window, stating that the club is trying to sign more players. Also, PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte has been heavily linked with a potential move. So, it is speculated that Manchester United will be trying to sell some players to sign their target, as the club has already made big money signings like Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt & Joshua Zirkzee in the current window without much major departures.
