It is two months away from the day Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool. The German has decided to take a break from football in the summer for personal reasons. Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted the story on his X account recently, involving Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Romano posted that the Egyptian star initially mistaken the gaffer for renewing his contract, but the truth turned out to be the opposite. It was Virgil van Dijk who told Salah about what had happened that day.

Mohamed Salah on Jurgen Klopp: “Thought he’s renewed his contract”
“We had a meeting at 10:30 which is weird, I come in and saw his agent and thought he’s renewed his contract!,” Salah said. “And then van Dijk told me he was leaving… I was like: why?!”
On separate occasions, the current Liverpool captain Van Dijk also said that the news was hard to digest considering what Klopp has done for the club. But the Dutch urges that his mind as well as the rest of the teams are not distracted.
“It’s a hard one to take because the manager means so much to us,” he told Sky. “To me, to the club, to the whole Premier League I think. He made a decision for him and his family. It was always going to be a tough one and it was definitely the case.
“He told us in private of course and all of us were together. I just said it was the hard one to take but our mindset is still focused on business and we have a lot of targets still to achieve this year. Why not finish this season on a high and together with celebrations for the boss as well.”
Jurgen Klopp has brought Liverpool from the death
Klopp came as a savior for Liverpool in 2015. He brought the club back from a pothole, to one of the most feared sides in the world for a moment. So far, he has won eight silverware for The Reds, including his second League Cup trophy, and the tenth for the club last February.
But the most significant trophy that Klopp has brought into Anfield was the Premier League one. Managers have been in and out since the last time they won it in 1990 but all of them failed. The best they could get was the 2005 Champions League trophy under Rafael Benitez.
It is not confirmed yet who will replace Klopp next summer as the club -according to Van Dijk, are still focused on this season’s campaign. One significant move from the club’s board is the plan of re-appointing Michael Edward as sporting director next season.
