The match looked set for extra time, but a superb ball by Marc Cucurella saw Mikel Oyarzabal slide and touch the ball in England’s goal to make it 2-1 in the 86th minute.
Spain National Football Team Player Ratings vs England
Goalkeeper
Unai Simón – 7: Two saves, but he should have done a lot better for the goal Spain conceded. Had the defense blocking his view a bit, was not quick on his feet.
Defenders
Daniel Carvajal – 7.5: Fearless, consistent and relentless. He was up and down the flank full game and always in the right position.
Robin Le Normand – 7: Rock solid at the back and gave Harry Kane no space in the final third. He was ready to dive into tackles when needed and was never shy about getting on the ball.
Aymeric Laporte – 8: Never gave the England players a moment’s peace and was always keeping them on their toes. He won almost all his duels.
Marc Cucurella – 8.5: Spain’s best defender of the tournament provided the match-winning assist and how! He was troubled a bit by Saka but came out victorious more often than not.
Midfielders
Rodri – 8: Played just 45 minutes but was the best player on the pitch. An anchor who was ready to stop anything England tried in the midfield and ready to launch Spain’s attack.
Fabián Ruiz – 8: The most underrated Spanish player of the tournament and he delivered once again on the big stage. Came close to scoring twice.
Lamine Yamal – 8.5: Unreal performance from the youngster once again and he got the assist for the opening goal. He never allowed Luke Shaw to get in his head and was ‘cooking’ Rice all over the pitch.
Dani Olmo – 7.5: Iffy performance from the midfielder, but still managed to get into the right space. He was unable to get any of his shots on target and won just one of his duels. However, his goal-line save right at the end meant Spain won the title in regulation time.
Nico Williams – 9: Kyle Walker rarely has players matching his pace but Nico Williams was one of them. He was always looking to drive into the box and get in range to shoot.
Forward
Álvaro Morata – 7: Not his best game today, but he kept trying. Had three shots in the game, but none were on target.

England National Football Team Player Ratings vs Spain
Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford – 7.5: Despite conceding twice, Pickford was hardly at fault for England’s loss. He made some excellent saves to deny Lamine Yamal and did well throughout the game.
Defenders
Kyle Walker – 6: Made way too many mistakes today and the most crucial one was lunging in to block Cucurella, who ended up assisting the winner.
John Stones – 7: Solid in defens,e but was putting the ball behind for a corner way too many times. He won just one duel, but made 8 clearances and blocked two shots.
Marc Guéhi – 7: Excellent once again and won most of his duels today. He managed to keep things calm at the back, while Stones was being the aggressor.
Luke Shaw – 6.5: First start at Euro 2024 and it was against the best attacker in the tournament – Lamine Yamal. He still tried his best, but could not do much.
Midfielders
Kobbie Mainoo – 7: Decent game one again, but was just not able to get the attack going as he was lacking support. Was taken off for Cole Palmer at 70′.
Declan Rice – 5: Played the whole game, but never managed to make an impact. Was all over the pitch and his shots hardly threatened Unai Simon.
Bukayo Saka – 7: Kept trying to get past Marc Cucurella, but was just getting beaten more often than not. Never managed to get a shot away today.
Phil Foden – 5: Played 89 minutes somehow and managed to do nothing significant. Got one shot on target, but it was from a set piece.
Jude Bellingham – 6: Not his best game, as he was never in the right place. He got the assist, but it was most down to Cola Palmer’s shot than his pass.
Forward
Harry Kane – 6: He is in the race for the Golden Boot, but it was yet another poor performance by the England captain. Got booked, had one shot in the game and was hooked off at the hour mark.
