Xavi Hernandez Confirms He Will Forgo Salary Owed to Him by Barcelona

Xavi Hernandez has spoken for the first time about his salary since it was confirmed he would be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season. His 2.5-year tenure as manager of the Catalan giants will come to an end on Sunday when they go to Sevilla.

What Xavi Hernandez Said?

Speaking to the press for one of his last interviews as manager, Xavi maintained his composure about the Barcelona hierarchy despite the harsh circumstances surrounding his dismissal, which occurred only a few weeks after Joan Laporta and company asked him to stay.

Quotes from MD:

“He only had good things to say about Laporta, Deco, and the rest.”

“I’m grateful to the president and I haven’t had any problems with the leaders. I’m a club man and I’ve adapted to the circumstances. The president gave me his reasons and I have no choice but to accept his decision.”

After the visit to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, Xavi also stated that he plans to take a break from managing and has no imminent plans to return to the dugout somewhere else.

“I haven’t thought about it. Now I think I need a break. I love this club and hopefully, it will give me the opportunity to work again in the future at the club of my life.”

“I already said I’d rather take a break. From here, listen and see what the future holds. A while resting – I’m sure I need it.”

The question of whether Xavi will forgo the money owed to him has been the subject of much conjecture in recent days.

If accepted, this would have an impact on Barcelona’s financial situation during the upcoming transfer window. Luckily for the club management, Xavi has stated that he has no intention of accepting any cash.

“There won’t be a problem on this, I said it before. I will keep my word.” said Xavi
