Thomas Tuchel sent off for protesting as Bayern Munich suffer shock defeat to a newly-promoted side Heidenheim

Things got worse for Bayern Munich as the defending champions surprisingly lost to Heidenheim in their recent Bundesliga outing. To make it even worse for Bayern, manager Thomas Tuchel was sent off in the second half after protesting to the match officials. 

Everything was under control for Bayern in the first half as they were leading 2-0 after Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry scored before the break. However,tables turned in the second half with Heidenheim scoring two goals inside three minutes, which put the guests under pressure. 

Thomas Tuchel was not happy

Tuchel was not happy with the result especially after his boys led the first half, leaving him speechless after the game. This loss would cost Bayer the league title, with the gap between them and Bayer Leverkusen extending to 16 points. 

“This shouldn’t happen at this level,” Tuchel told the media via Goal. “We had everything under control at halftime, it’s difficult to answer now. We are struggling to maintain the level, unfortunately today was another proof. 

“We gave the game away in the first 15 minutes of the second half, after we did a lot of good things in the first half. We then had three, four big chances to score the third but didn’t take them. The way we conceded the goals was way too simple.”
