Arsenal is one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world. They are the third most successful English team in terms of trophies, with a count of 48 trophies in their cabinet, only behind Liverpool and Manchester United. In past, the Gunners have enjoyed substantial success, with legendary names playing for the club and iconic managers have been part of their rich history.

Arsenal’s famous ‘The Invincibles’ season from 2003-04 success is a remarkable feat in club football. They won the Premier League title without losing a single game in that entire campaign and were lauded with the title for being undefeated. The scenario did change after, a phase of hardships for the club during the last decade with misfiring signings to failing to secure European football ended up becoming a mid-table club.

Some of the most decorated footballers have worn the Arsenal colours over the years including — Thiery Henry, Dennis Bergkamp,  Ian Wright, Patrick Vieira and Sol Campbell are among the prominent names who have represented the North London club and were a part of their unbeatable squad. Notably, all of these players were signed under Arsene Wenger’s management.

He converted the team from a mid-table side to a team full of aspiration and confidence that would fight for League titles and Championships. Arsenal heavily invested in the right players who aligned with their plans and gameplay, and as a result, all of their signings have succeeded so far under Arterta’s direction.

When discussing challenges, Unai emery successor Mikel Arteta endured a tough start to his first-ever managerial stint. After learning from the best himself Pep Guardiola under whom Arteta worked as an assistant before taking the Arsenal job. Despite early challengers, he has done a commendable job at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal Transfer Strategy and Philosophy

Arsenal’s transfer strategy and policy have seen a shift since the conclusion of Arsene Wenger’s managerial term. For a long period, the club was under the same manager — Arsene Wenger, who left the club in 2018 after taking charge of the club in 1996. After that, a couple of managerial changes affected their functions.

The club focuses mainly on promoting youth talents, and as a result, many players from their academy are promoted to the first team. Apart from that, like all other Premier League clubs, they have increased their recent expenditure on buying big players with hefty transfer fees.

During Wenger’s era club used to focus on signing that value for money and proven names alongwith identifying world-class proven talents. They provided the players a platform to grow as a player which helped the club to compete at the highest among other top clubs in England and Europe.

Meanwhile, Under Arteta, the transfer guidelines have been unchanged as the squad has balanced squad with a mix of homegrown talents to the names that have arrived on huge transfer fees the likes of Martin Odeegard, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havaretz, Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and many more among the list.

In this summer window, they are targeting according to their plans players who suit their style of play instead of going all in to cash in Market sensation and then later figuring out how to accommodate the player into their tactics. Also, they have managed to keep their accounts clean without violating the Financial fair play rules.
