Belgium vs Italy Preview

  • Tournament: UEFA Nations League
  • Date: 14th November 2024
  • Kickoff time: 19:45
  • Venue: King Baudouin Stadium

Belgium take on Italy just over a month after facing off in the 3rd game week of the UEFA Nations League. The two sides played out a 2-2 draw last month and will be hoping to collect all three points this week.

Belgium need the win more than Italy as a loss or draw would see them miss out of any chance to finish in the top 2. They come into the match after a 2-1 loss to France in the previous game.

Italy are on top of the table and know that a win would seal the top spot for them. They are unbeaten in the Nations League this year and won 4-1 in their previous match against Israel.

Key players to watch in Belgium vs Italy

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)

Belgum’s top scorer is back but could be a super sub in the game against Italy. He has scored just once in the last five matches for Napoli and will be hoping to use the international break to get back to his best.

Lois Openda has done well RB Leipzig with 5 goals in 10 Bundesliga matches this season. But he too has scored just once in his last 5 matches for the German side and Lukaku might replace him in the match next week against Israel.

Moise Kean (Italy)

Much like Romelu Lukaku, Italy might need a super sub in their match against Belgium. Moise Kean will be their man and he comes into the break in fine form.

The Italian striker has 8 goals in 11 Serie A matches for Fiorentina this season. Six of those goals have come in the last three matches – including a hattrick against Verona this weekend – and that will give the Italian fans a lot of confidence.

Belgium vs Italy Prediction

Belgium held Italy to a 2-2 draw last week but that might not be the case this week. The two sides could take the head-on as they will be confident of getting the win, but with Red Devils being desperate for a win, they might leave a lot of space at the back.

Italians could easily make the most of it and counter at every chance. The EURO 2020 winners are likely to come out winners this week and finish as the group toppers ahead of France.

Prediction: Belgium 1-3 Italy
