France vs Israel Preview

  • Competition: UEFA Nations League.
  • Date: Thursday, November 14.
  • Time: 8:45 PM GMT.
  • Venue: Stade de France.

France vs Israel will be the fifth match for both nations in League A Group 2 of the ongoing UEFA Nations League cycle on Thursday, November 14.

Les Bleus will enter this match on the back of a decent run of form. They have secured three wins and suffered two defeats in their last five matches across competitions and will look to stay within the wins column. Having lost to Italy 3-1 in September, the French have won three-in-a-row, defeating Belgium (2-0, 2-1) as well as Israel (4-1) in their last break. Now, they will look for a win to try and leapfrog the Italians into top spot.

The visitors, on the other hand, will enter this contest on the back of a poor run of form. Having defeated Belarus 4-0 back in June, Israel has had a poor campaign in the Nations League and has lost all four of its matches so far. They have also conceded 13 goals in this time but have managed to score in each of their games so far. Having lost their last match 4-1 to Italy, the Israelis will look to do better in the next match.

On that note, let’s take a look at the team news from both camps.

France National Football Team News

Manager Didier Deschamps selected a good squad in the team’s last international break. However, he left out Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe and has done the same ahead of this international break. All other notable players have been included, as well as Marcus Thuram of Inter Milan after he missed out in the last break. So Deschamps should stick with largely the same XI.

Israel National Football Team News

Manager Ran Ben Simon went with a strong lineup in both the team’s games in the last international break. For the second game against Italy, the manager went with his customary 3-4-2-1 formation and will field the same combination of players once again. Israel will look to find some consistency as they search for their first points in the Nations League.

Key Players to Watch

Matteo Guendouzi (France)

The midfielder has been in top form for both club and country in recent times. He has contributed with one goal and one assist so far in the Nations League and is earmarked to start the next game in Aurelien Tchouameni’s absence. Being one of the more senior members, the onus will be on Guendouzi to show his mettle and hold his own in France’s midfield.

Mohammad Abu Fani (Israel)

Abu Fani has two goals to his name in this edition of the Nations League. With Israel managing to score in each of their four games so far, he will look to get on the scoresheet in their next one as well.

France vs Israel Prediction

Going by their recent head-to-head records and their respective form guides, it is hard to look past France as comfortable winners of this match against Israel. The hosts have too much strength in depth within their ranks to even worry about a defeat currently.

Prediction: France 3-1 Israel
