Aston Villa 1-1 West Ham Player Ratings: Two teams share spoils after a late comeback from the Hammers

Aston Villa hosted West Ham at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday, January 26 and the two teams played out a thrilling 1-1 draw.

The hosts raced into a one-goal lead as Jacob Ramsey converted Ollie Watkins’ pass to make it 1-0 after just eight minutes. Villa had the ball for 44% of the first period but managed just two other shots on target from seven attempts. West Ham, on the other hand, failed to capitalize as none of their five shots were on target in the first half.

The Hammers’ fortunes turned around in the second period as they played with a spring in their step and looked to threaten on each attack. Aston Villa, on the other hand, hit the target just once with six attempts and failed to trouble the goalkeeper.
