Granit Xhaka wishes Arsenal to win the Premier League title race

Granit Xhaka just won the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, ending Bayern Munich’s long standing reign with five games in hand. The Swiss player wished that his former club Arsenal earn the same honour as he did this season, winning the league title.

With six games to go, Arsenal are two points behind the current league leaders Manchester City. The Gunners can keep their hopes alive and continue winning the next six games while wishing that The Citizens would slip in the process.

“Deserve to win trophies”: Granit Xhaka wishes Arsenal

Xhaka spent seven seasons with the London-based team, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shield trophies. His best achievement with Arsenal in the league was securing the second spot last season after bottling the title in final weeks.

“Can Arsenal win the title?,” he said via The Mirror. “I hope so because the team, the staff and the football club as well deserve to win trophies. They are very close this year as well like it was last year but football is about small details. I hope they can do it.

Leverkusen have not been beaten across competition this season and that is how they won the league. Xhaka hoped that Arsenal could achieve the same level of consistency in order to achieve what they had failed to earn last season.

“There are six games left in the Premier League and there is still a big chance to get the Premier League title. I wish them all the best for sure because I am still in contact with the staff and players and also still watching the games.

“This is part of the game, I think it was 10 or 11 games unbeaten. When you lose one game, it doesn’t mean you lost everything already.”

In his first season with Leverkusen, Xhaka is one of the most actively involved players in his team’s attacking force. He has 206 attacking involvement, consisting of 36 shots, 38 chances created, and 132 build-up passes, losing only to his teammate Exequiel Palacios.
