Alphonso Davies Transfer: Real Madrid pull out of race for full-back

Alphonso Davies Transfer: Los Blancos are looking to strengthen their full-back spot

Real Madrid have reportedly lost interest in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, whom the club were linked with earlier as they sought to beef up their left-back options. Now, Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez has emerged as their new target.

According to Spanish news outlet Cope, Los Blancos have cooled their interest in Davies, and are now looking towards Gutierrez. The 22-year-old has had an amazing season with Girona in La Liga, playing a key role in helping them secure Champions League qualification.

Gutierrez was a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, La Fabrica, before being sold to Girona in 2022. However, there’s a buy-back clause in his contract, and the Whites could activate that to bring him back to Madrid this summer.

Cope’s report also claims that another academy graduate Rafa Marin is also on their radar, following his eye-catching displays while on loan with Alaves this season.

Real Madrid looking to end La Liga strongly before Champions League final

With the La Liga title already in the bag, Real Madrid are looking to end their top-flight campaign on a strong note by winning both their remaining games and finishing with 99 points. If achieved, that will be their best tally in the league since the 100-points mark in 2012 under Jose Mourinho. It would also give them plenty of momentum ahead of their all-important Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on 2 June, as Los Blancos have the chance to do a league and European double for the second time in three years.
