Benjamin Sesko, RB Leipzig

Arsenal targeting RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko who has summer release clause

Arsenal are keeping tabs on forward Benjamin Sesko, whose current deal with RB Leipzig has a release clause that gets activated in June 2024.

This is as per Philipp Hinze of Sky Sports Germany, who has specified the amount to be €50 million for the 20-year-old Slovenian.

While the amount may seem astronomical at first glance, the player has shown great promise of late. Sesko made his way through the youth ranks at Red Bull Salzburg before being promoted to the senior team in 2019, aged just 16.

He made 79 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals and providing 11 assists. These exploits at a young age earned him a €24 million move to Leipzig in July 2023. In Germany, Sesko has made 24 appearances, scoring seven goals so far. More than his displays, his raw attributes have attracted some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Arsenal in the mix.

Benjamin Sesko stands at 195cm, nearly 6-foot-3, and possesses an incredibly rare body type. Despite being tall, he is still very quick and agile and can be a handful for defenders with his attributes. Sesko is also adept in the air and can strike the ball equally well with both feet.

Adding a player of his potential to a group filled with young players could prove mutually beneficial. With his peak several years away, it could give him enough time to settle into life in England.

However, Sesko remains a key part of RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose’s plans. The club are currently fourth in the Bundesliga with 33 points from 18 games so far. Should they aim to achieve last season’s tally of 66 points, Leipzig will look to retain Sesko until the summer.
