Bayern Munich changes Alphonso Davies stance amid Real Madrid’s interest

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Bayern Munich are reportedly warming up to the idea of selling Alphonso Davies this summer. The Canadian had joined the club as a young winger in 2019 from Vancouver Whitecaps. Now, however, he is entering the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Davies hasn’t responded to contract renewal talks like Bayern would have wanted and his agent has repeatedly flirted with the idea of going elsewhere publicly. Keeping all this in mind, Bayern fears losing him on a free twelve months from now and would rather cash in on the Canadian in this window. Hence, they are reportedly open to hearing offers for him.

Real Madrid have been rumoured to be interested in signing Davies for the last few months. However, an official approach hasn’t come from them so far with the club choosing to focus on completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe instead. Carlo Ancelotti has downplayed the chances of them making another signing this summer but left-back is a problem position for Real. Fran Garcia is supposed to be the starter but he hasn’t met expectations and has been rather poor in pre-season. So the chances of Real making a late move cannot be ruled out. Other clubs like Chelsea will also be on the lookout.

Bayern will be losing out on an important player if this were to go through but Vincent Kompany doesn’t have to be too worried as they already have Raphael Guerrero in that position as well as emerging youth player Adam Aznou.
