AFC Bournemouth Transfer Analysis and Overview – 2024

AFC Bournemouth stands as one of the oldest and most historic clubs in the football world. Initially, the club competed in local football leagues before moving from the Hampshire League to the Southern League. Commonly known as ‘The Cherries’, AFC Bournemouth won EFL (Level 2) in 2014-15 & Third Division/ League One in 1986-87. The club has gone through various transformations over the years, not just on the pitch but in ownership as well.

In its 126-year existence, the club has had different generations of owners and chairmen who have made it develop and run effectively. In the early years, clubs depended on local businesspersons and enthusiasts to purchase basic requirements for players, including shoes, kits, and other personal requirements.

AFC Bournemouth Transfers Club Performance History

Bournemouth’s transfer business this season was a big shocker to fans and pundits alike as they let go of Dominic Solanke who was doing well and scoring decent goals for the team. Solanke’s exit saw them receive £55.30m but they have received backlash for not having an experienced striker.

On the other hand, they have got some young talents on the team like Evanilson, Luis Sinisterra, Enes Unal, Dean Huijsen, and Julian Araujo which might be a good AFC Bournemouth long-term plan.

AFC Bournemouth Transfer Strategy and Philosophy

Bournemouth is yet another team that has a clear transfer strategy and it is to sign experienced football players and at the same time, have the youths. The club actively searches for experienced professionals since the team suffers from stress on the field due to confrontation in the English Premier League. Not only do they provide on-field assurances but in the same process are also used for the training of new members.

Moreover, Bournemouth can point out an investment in young talents with a high level of skills and affordable rates. The first team is almost always well-stocked with young players because these players are both potential starters for the first team in the future and potentially very valuable commodities because of their long-term scalability.

This double approach contributes to the preservation of the competitiveness of the selected squad at the present stage and further development. An important characteristic of Bournemouth’s strategic plan is the right mixture of reactive and proactive approaches.

AFC Bournemouth Transfer 2024 Challenges & Criticisms

The last operations of Bournemouth are evidence of the efficiency of the used approach. The club has been very effective in searching for players who have caused effects in some of the most sensitive areas of the team. On the other hand, overall sales have let Bournemouth reinvest in the sports team and hence remain competitive despite current financial constraints.

Most Expensive AFC Bournemouth Transfers

Actually, in the January 2024/25 transfer window, the club was able to set a record for a transfer and acquire a new talent in AFC Bournemouth. The club was able to sign the Brazilian striker Evanilson from FC Porto for £40 million while they let go of Long Island’s striker Dominic Solanke who was sold to Tottenham for £65 million.

This particular investment was an indication of their desire to have a top-tier goal scorer in the team to replace Solanke’s finishing in the front line.

There was also the signing of Dean Huijsen, a young Spanish center back but bought from Juventus for £12.8m. His signing is a part of the club’s plan to build a mean, sustainable defense force with Andoni Iraola as the manager.

Top Signings for AFC Bournemouth in 2024/25

Besides Evanilson and Huijsen, Cherries have signed some other youth players as well. The acquisition of a goalkeeper on loan from Chelsea was quite reliable in offering a steady stream of players in the goalkeeping positions. Kepa was deemed as valuable for the squad mainly because of his background.

Mexican right-back, Julián Araujo was signed from Barcelona, and left-back, Jordan Zemur were both so useful in adding pace and attack from the back. Moreover, some strong performers of the previous season signed with the club permanently; namely, Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal represent the further continuation of the attack line quality.

Worst Signings for AFC Bournemouth in 2024/25

The transfer window season has seen numerous success stories but not all players bought have delivered instant results. Evanilson, who has the makings of a top-class striker may have to wait a little longer and needs to adjust to Premier League physicality as well as the pace of the game as he has yet to score in his early games for the club. But it is still required to wait at least several more years as he slowly changes for the better in his new place.

AFC Bournemouth Transfer Spend Till Now (2024/25 Season)

Altogether, AFC Bournemouth’s overall transfer outlay for the 2024/25 summer window was £58.8m because of Evanilson and Huijsen. Thus, to finance such expenditure Bournemouth got £65 million from the sale of Solanke and, therefore, their financial situation was successful. This balance clearly shows a willingness to be sustainable when Bournemouth embraces the Premier League.

OFFICIAL: Kepa Arrizabalaga joins Bournemouth on a season-long loan

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has completed his season-long loan move to Bournemouth while also extending his contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2026. His contract with the West London giants was due to expire next summer.

His deal with Bournemouth does not include an obligation to make the move permanent next summer. The Spaniard spent the last season on loan at Real Madrid where he won the La Liga and Champions League.

Kepa became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when he moved from Athletic Club to Chelsea in August 2018 for £71 million. He will now reunite with his former teammate and Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola.

“We are delighted to bring a player of Kepa’s calibre to AFC Bournemouth,” said Cherries chief executive Neill Blake.

“We were aware of his availability and were keen to take the opportunity to bring him to the club on loan.

“We believe he will be an exciting addition to our talented goalkeeping department.”

Kepa Arrizabalaga closer to Chelsea exit

Chelsea outcasted goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is inching closer to a loan move to Bournemouth for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. The Spaniard spent the last season on loan at Real Madrid and hoped to secure a permanent exit from Chelsea this summer.

Arrizabalaga earlier rejected an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad and now English rivals Bournemouth are close to sealing a late move for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

Before he makes a move to Bournemouth, Chelsea will trigger a one-year extension to his contract as his current contract is due to expire next summer.

BREAKING: Bournemouth getting closer to a move for Kepa Arrizabalaga

Bournemouth are exploring a move for Chelsea outcasted goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who has heavily linked with an exit this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Cherries are closing on a loan deal for the 29-year-old Spaniard who has been deemed surplus to Enzo Maresca’s requirements.

The Cherries have identified Kepa as a temporary option after failing to sign a number of targets this summer. The Spaniard has entered the last 12 months of his contract and Chelsea wants to extend his contract until 2026 to avoid a free transfer.

Chelsea star becomes surprise target for Premier League club

AFC Bournemouth have set sights on signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The Cherries see a loan move for the Spaniard as the top target, as they look to bring in a goalkeeper.

As per a report by David Ornstein on The Athletic, Chelsea are not planning to keep Kepa this season and are open to letting the goalkeeper leave. However, they were looking to sell the Spaniard as he was in the final year of his contract.

With Bournemouth interested in a loan deal, the Spaniard who spent the previous season on loan at Real Madrid will have to extend his deal to go out on loan as he would be a free agent next summer.

Breaking: AFC Bournemouth seals club-record transfer for FC Porto’s Brazilian striker

As termed in by ‘Sky Sports’, Premier League club AFC Bournemouth has agreed upon a club record transfer fee with Liga Portugal side FC Porto in order to sign Brazilian striker Evanilson in the ongoing 2024 summer transfer window.

The transfer fee involved in the deal is reported to be around £40.25 million (€37 million) (via Sky Sports). However, the deal is termed to include another potential sum of around €10 million as add-ons, which could take the entire ‘package’ to be worth €47 million.

Evalinson is set to travel to the United Kingdom to ensure the rest of the formalities of the deal and complete his Bournemouth signing.

This signing by the Cherries sort of makes a statement regarding where they aim to compete in the 2024-25 Premier League season. The club surprised many in the last league campaign, under Andoni Iraola as they managed to register a decent sum of points on the board and finish 12th on the standings.

However, with the departure of their talisman in front of the goal in the form of Dominic Solanke, it looked like Cherries might struggle for that cutting edge in terms of free-flowing scoring in the upcoming season. But, now with the arrival of Evalinson, things are starting to look promising once again for Iraola and his team.

If all goes as per the plan, one expects Evalinson to start for Bournemouth in their first game of the season against Nottingham Forest away at the City Ground.

OFFICIAL: Julian Araujo confirms his permanent move to Bournemouth

The U.S.-born defender has completed his permanent move to Bournemouth in a deal worth €10 million. Julian Araujo arrived at Camp Nou from LA Galaxy last summer and was immediately loaned out to Los Palmas where he made 25 league appearances.

The 23-year-old defender has never made a competitive appearance for Barcelona and he was unable to secure a spot in Flick’s plans for the upcoming campaign. Araujo has penned a five-year contract with Bournemouth.

“FC Barcelona and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Julián Araujo to the English club for 10 million euros.

“FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Araujo for his dedication and commitment and wishes him every success in the future.”

Bournemouth interested in Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah

The Cherries have identified Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah as the perfect replacement for Dominic Solanke who completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur in this summer transfer window.

Nketiah has been heavily linked with Marseille throughout this summer but a move collapsed as the Ligue 1 are unwilling to match Arsenal’s asking price of £30million for the England international.

Bournemouth are now exploring a move for the 25-year-old striker who has scored 38 goals in 168 games so for the North London giants. The Cherries are yet to submit their first bid for the England international.

Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah garnering interest from Premier League rivals: Report

A recent report from ‘CaughOffside‘, has laid out that Premier League club Arsenal’s forward Eddie Nketiah has been garnering transfer interest from London-based rivals Bournemouth in the last couple of days.

This comes after Nketiah’s potential transfer to Ligue 1 side Marseille has failed to materialize into a deal as of now.

The Cherries’ interest in Eddie Nketiah further makes sense at this point in time, as they recently sold their star number 9, Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur.

In general terms of looking at the prospective developments, if Bournemouth does push for the Arsenal forward in the coming days, the Vitality Stadium could prove to be a place where Nketiah revives his Premier League career under Andoni Iraola.

Tottenham sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur has completed the signing of a much needed striker as they have lured Dominic Solanke away from Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old will lead the line for Spurs in the 2024-25 Premier League season and with the presence of exciting teammates like Son, Kulusevski, Johnson and Solomon, Solanke is definitely poised to score a lot of goals for his new club.

This transfer almost certainly confirms that Richarlison will mostly be leaving the club this summer with him being linked to Saudi Pro League teams.

Tottenham in advance talks with London rivals Bournemouth for 26-year-old striker: Report

According to ‘Sky Sports News‘, Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur is in ‘advance’ talks with neighbors Bournemouth to put a potential deal in place for Cherries’ star striker Dominic Solanke.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Solanke severely in the ongoing transfer window, and now it seems like things are advancing to the next stage as far as the club’s hierarchy’s interest in bringing the player to Ange Postecoglou’s squad is concerned.

While it has been earlier reported that the 26-year-old has a release clause of around £65 million in his current contract at Bournemouth, ‘Sky Sports’ on ‘Instagram’ has laid out that it is only applicable to certain clubs (in the scenario of sale to specified clubs). The report also indicates that Tottenham made their formal approach for Solanke on Thursday, August 8.

However, now, it remains to be seen how the financial aspect of the deal pans out between Spurs and Bournemouth for the United Kingdom-born forward. But, it will be a no-brainer that Tottenham’s fans would be quite satisfied with their side’s persistent attempt to dig out a striker with massive potential this window.

Solanke’s current contract with Bournemouth is till June 2027. The center-forward had been in a hot streak of form in front of the goal lately netting 19 goals and registering three assists for Cherries in the last Premier League campaign.
