With Chelsea on an impressive run of form, many fans hope the Blues could keep things ticking as they slowly move up the league table. At the moment, Mauricio Pochettino’s side sits 9th on the table with 44 points and are only five points behind sixth-placed Manchester United. However, things have changed for the Blues as an injury crisis has hurt the club badly.
Ahead of their clash against Everton, only Newcastle United have more players out injured than Chelsea which has caused several problems for Pochettino. So much so, that the Argentine has been without star Christopher Nkunku for a large part of the season with Reece James and Wesley Fofana also on that list. However, things have just become worse as Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi are now on the injury list.
Chelsea’s Injury Update: 13 players are now out with Fernandez and Disasi added to the list
According to Chelsea’s official website, the club had 11 players sit out training ahead of their clash against Everton with Robert Sanchez, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell on that list. However, the report has also revealed that Disasi and Fernandez have joined the list as well. The two have been a consistent presence in Chelsea’s latest unbeaten run but both players are now undergoing assessment.
That does mean Pochettino will be without both Disasi and Fernandez alongside Sterling (illness), Robert Sanchez (illness) and a few other key stars. Pochettino also confirmed that he is unsure as to whether Disasi and Fernandez would feature against Everton in his pre-match presser. The Argentine also revealed that Chilwell could be in contention to play although he is the only one.
The likes of Nkunku (hamstring), Levi Colwill (toe), Lavia (thigh), James (hamstring), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) and Fofana (knee) are all unavailable for the foreseeable future. However, all six players are in rehabilitation programmes which means that a return before the season is over is possible for at least Nkunku and James.
