With the Premier League back in action after the international break, it’s time to focus on Fantasy Premier League again. Here are some must-have defenders for Fantasy Premier League GW 4:
1. Noussair Mazraoui
Although a lot of attention has gone to Matthijs De Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui was also signed by Manchester United. With the team’s backline being shaky, he is expected to be a raging success. In Fantasy Premier League, not many would have the Moroccan. But the Red Devils play Southampton this weekend and thus the potential for a clean sheet at minimum is huge.
2. Jean-Paul Van Hecke
Brighton are magicians with their recruitment, and rarely do any of their signings flop. Young centre-back JP Van Hecke is another on the list. The Dutch defender has over the last year and a half forced himself into the Brighton and the Netherlands team as well as into common conscience. He has developed into a classy all-round defender and is available for £4.5m. Given Brighton’s next game is at lowly Ipswich, expect good points.
3. Ezri Konsa
Ezri Konsa has now become a senior footballer in the Aston Villa ranks. The £4.5m price tag will attract a lot of Fantasy Premier League managers but he only has 5 points so far. Villa have a fantastic run of fixtures starting with a game against a struggling Everton side this weekend. Konsa is a must-have right now given his fixtures.

4. Rico Lewis
Rico Lewis is in the midst of a huge season. It seems like he has finally benched club captain Kyle Walker and made a strong start to the season. This is reflected in his FPL, with his ownership at almost 10% with a price of £4.7m. Although City are expected to win every game, he could be set for another really big haul in their game against Brentford.
5. Trent Alexander Arnold
In terms of being a Fantasy Premier League asset, Trent Alexander Arnold sits on a separate table, ahead of everyone else. He is priced at £7.0m, the highest among defenders by a mile, and still, 30 plus percent of the total managers have him in their teams. He has already accumulated 20 points in the three games so far. Nottingham Forest are up next for Liverpool and therefore expect more of the same from Trent.
