Inter Milan winger Hakan Calhanoglu was on the mark yet again from 12 yards out when he converted a penalty against Cagliari.
Calhanoglu Continues Penalty Success as Inter Maintains Serie A Lead
The Inter Milan attacker scored in the 74th minute in his side’s 2-2 draw, registering his ninth spot-kick of the season. Currently, Calhanoglu leads the stats around Europe’s top five leagues for most penalties scored this season.
Calhanoglu’s strike was not enough to earn Inter all three points as Cagliari leveled the scorers for a second time on the night to end the game 2-2. Marcus Thuram scored the other goal for Inter Milan, who sit comfortably at the top of the Serie A standings. The Nerrazurri currently lead the league standings with 83 points after 32 games. They are 14 points ahead of second-placed AC Milan, who have played the same number of matches.
Calhanoglu has netted 13 goals and laid down three assists in 36 games for Inter Milan this season. He is joint-second Inter’s scoring charts this season alongside Marcus Thuram (Lautaro Martinez leads the standings with 25 strikes to his name). Overall, Calhanoglu has registered 25 goals and 24 assists in 131 games for the Nerrazurri.
Inter Milan is interested in signing Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Inter Milan are keen to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as per Gazzetta Dello Sport. The English right-back has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has often operated as a left-back due to the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia this season. At Inter, he could likely get a chance to revive his career, which has stalled in England.
Inter Milan currently has Denzel Dumfries, Matteo Darmian, and Benjamin Pavard in their ranks, all of whom are capable of playing at right centre-back or right-wing back to fit the team’s five-man back system. Bissaka can be a useful addition to the team, as he can operate from both positions as well. Dumfries has also been linked with a move away from Inter Milan, with Aston Villa reportedly keen on his services.
