Jamie Vardy was upbeat ahead of Chelsea encounter
Leicester City’s prolific striker Jamie Vardy has asserted that his side goes into every game wanting to win it. The Foxes visit the Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in a tantalizing fixture. The sides meet for the first time since Leicester’s relegation from the top-flight last summer, as the former Premier League rivals renew hostilities once again.
In the previous round, Leicester overcame Bournemouth in a narrow 1-0 victory, and will be keen to pull off another scalp here. Jamie Vardy, their talismanic striker who lit up the Premier League for years with his stellar performances in the big games, has sent a message to the Blues ahead of their match, wherein he said they’ll find ways to hurt them.

Speaking to the press ahead of the clash, he said:
“We go into every game wanting to win so we’ll make sure we’re recovered and we’ll be back on the training field looking at how Chelsea play and how we can hurt them. You just have to look at it as if it’s another league game. There’s nothing different. They’ve had their troubles, obviously have got brilliant players and on their day, they’re an unbelievable team.”
Chelsea and Leicester have met exactly 10 times in the FA Cup, with the Blues winning on seven occasions. However, the Foxes will have fond memory of their last encounter in the competition, having beaten the Blues 1-0 in the 2021 finals for a stunning title victory.
Jamie Vardy’s terrible record against Chelsea
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy had a reputation for coming up trumps against the ‘big six’ of the Premier League, but the side that he’s struggled the most from that bunch is Chelsea. In 21 matches against the west London side, the former England international has only struck four times, which includes one in the FA Cup, scored back in March 2018.
