WATCH: Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah scores first-ever Premier League goal with stunning header

Liverpool’s prodigal defender Jarell Quansah opened his scoring account in the Premier League with a stunning header against Aston Villa in his team’s 3-3 draw on May 13.

The 21-year-old showed great athleticism to get to the cross and buried his header at the far post for his first-ever PL goal.

Jarell Quansah’s goal in context of the match

Jarell Quansah was often seen making runs forward when Liverpool were awarded free-kicks in interesting positions and made a lovely run for his goal. Having noticed Villa’s backline shifting towards the ball, Quansah used his intelligence to bend his run in such a way that he would arrive unmarked near the far post.

He gestured multiple times towards Harvey Elliott, who eventually spotted him and floated his cross perfectly into the defender’s path. Quansah rose high and guided the ball into the top-left corner with a powerful and accurate header to put his team 3-1 up on the night just three minutes into the second half.

Due to injuries to Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip, Quansah’s involvement with the first team was fast-tracked this season and he has been crucial. He has made 32 appearances across competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists. His other goal came in the Europa League against Union SG.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool: Flow of events in the game

Former Arsenal custodian Emiliano Martinez handed Liverpool the perfect start as he spilled Elliott’s low cross into his own goal after just two minutes of play. However, Villa responded just 10 minutes later as Youri Tielemans scored a composed goal in the 12th minute.

Liverpool restored their advantage just 11 minutes later as Cody Gakpo scored with a lovely finish to make it 2-1 as the Reds carried that advantage into the break. Just three minutes after the restart, Quansah grabbed his goal and it looked as though Jurgen Klopp’s men would win with ease.

However, Villa substitute Jhon Duran had other plans. He came on in the 79th minute and scored in the 85th and 88th minutes to bring his team back on level terms at 3-3. Moussa Diaby saw a late effort heroically saved by Alisson as the game ended 3-3.
