Barcelona and Real Madrid Dominate La Liga Team of the Season Nominees

The nominees for La Liga Team of the Season for the 2023-24 campaign have been unveiled with Barcelona and Real Madrid leading the pack with a combined total of fourteen players nominated for the prestigious accolade.

Despite a challenging season for Xavi’s Barcelona, the Catalan giants boast six players nominated for the Team of the Season.

Among the nominees are defenders Ronald Araujo and Joao Cancelo, midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Ilkay Gundogan, prolific striker Robert Lewandowski, and the promising 16-year-old talent Lamine Yamal.

In contrast, Real Madrid, poised to clinch the league title, have eight players nominated for the coveted honour.

The nominees include goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, defenders Antonio Rudiger and Dani Carvajal, midfielders Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, and Fede Valverde, as well as forwards Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo.

Meanwhile, Girona, enjoying a successful season, also features prominently in the nominations list with a host of players vying for recognition. Daley Blind, Miguel Gutiérrez, Yan Couto, Aleix García, Sávio, and Artem Dovbyk represent the high-flying club in contention for the Team of the Season accolade.

The final selection for La Liga’s Team of the Season will be announced prior to the conclusion of the season, offering recognition to the standout performers in Spain’s top flight for the 2023-24 campaign.
