Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is at the doors waiting for Ansu Fati’s return as the transfer window gets heated up. A foot injury dented the 21-year-old pre-season and has been sidelined since then.
Recently, Flick expressed his remarks on the forward’s potential, saying, “I hope that when Ansu returns, he will show the same level as he did in pre-season. We have to take care of him,” as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
The impact of Ansu’s injury has raised questions over his future at the club, creating speculations about an exit. As per reports, he is displaying a consistent form and progress in training. The manager has also hinted, the youngster could be a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Why Flick’s promise is not enough?
Although Flick’s assurance lingers uncertainty, the potential signing of a winger could direct Ansu Fati to the exit door. Barcelona has been eyeballing Federico Chiesa as a prime candidate for the winger position, pushing Ansu to consider new opportunities outside the Catalan giants, with Pau Victor and Ferran Torres competing for game time.
The strategy to offload non-essential players for funds has caused uncertainty for his future, as the club has been evaluating multiple offers for many players, making it obvious to either loan out or sign a permanent deal. Seville’s interest could carry value only, but paying the additional wages has put the deal on a halt.
Time only should tell if Ansu Fati’s recovery could cost him his place at the club, with many players incoming as the fight for a place in the squad under Flick is getting more suffocating.
