The Premier League title race is on until the final week after Arsenal clinched a vital win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. One goal from Leandro Trossard in the first half stood until the final whistle, pushing The Gunners back on to the top of the league.
It was Kai Havertz who put a cross into United’s near post on the left hand side of the box. The German’s low cross into the middle of the goal found Leandro Trossard who slotted in into André Onana’s net.
Manchester United vs Arsenal: Gunners are taking the title race to the final day
As things stand, Arsenal have collected 86 points, leading a point to Manchester City with one game remaining. If The Citizens fail to beat Tottenham Hotspur next Tuesday, a win is enough for The Gunners to end the 20-year of league title drought.
The victory at Old Trafford allowed Arsenal to make three consecutive wins over United for the first time since September 1998. It’s also their fourth double over the Red Devils in the Premier League, after 1997/98, 2001/02, and 2006/07.
On the other end, United have just suffered their 19 league games this season, equalling the worst record which was made in the 1978/70 season. To make things get worse for them, United just clinched a most home-defeat season with nine, also replicating the record in 1920/21, 1930/31, 1933/34, 1962/63, and 1973/74.
