Olivier Giroud announces his departure from AC Milan to continue his career “in the MLS”

After months of rumours and uncertainty regarding his future, Olivier Giroud has announced it officially. Speaking through the AC Milan online platform, the French international said that he was heading to the United States to play in MLS.

Milan did not specify where Giroud is going but it is known that Los Angeles FC will be his next destination starting from next season. The former Chelsea and Arsenal player spent three seasons with Rossoneri, winning a Serie A title in his debut season there.

Olivier Giroud to continue his trophy-laden career

“I am here to tell you that the next two games will be my last for Milan,” Giroud said. “My career will continue in the MLS. I am very proud of everything I have done here in Milan across three seasons.

“It’s the right time to announce it. My story with Milan ends this year but Milan will forever remain in my heart. Excuse me, I am a bit emotional

Giroud will follow the steps of another former Arsenal player Carlos Vela, as well as his fellow French player Hugo Lloris in Los Angeles. The Nice-born striker said that Milan has a special section in his heart owing to what he has been through with the club.

Looking at his playing portfolio, Giroud has always won titles for every club he played for. Back in his time with Montpellier, he won the Ligue 1 in 2012, outracing a newly-born multimillion football project Paris Saint-Germain back then

Moving to Arsenal, his trophy-winning tradition continued with winning three FA Cups and three community shields. With Chelsea, Giroud won something that has appeared to be unlikely for Arsenal to win it for years, the Champions League.
