Premier League Top Scorer: Golden Boot Standings After GW 16

The Premier League has been the home for top footballing talent in the world and with each passing Premier League season we see a host of Top Performers emerging that can light up the pitch with their skills and goal-scoring abilities. 

Talking about goal scoring, it’s none other than Erling Haaland who is leading the charts as the top scorer this season with 14 goals so far. Although the Norwegian has been on a recent goal-scoring drought, he still sits comfortably at the top and would be looking forward to further adding to his tally.

Following Erling Haaland is the Egyptian King and Liverpool’s main man, Mohamed Salah who has scored 11 goals so far and assisted 7. He is also the joint top assist provider in the league this season tied with Wolves’ Pedro Neto and Newcastle United’s Keiran Trippier. 

Leading the charts in terms of defensive stats is Crystal Palace’s shot-stopper, Sam Johnstone, tied with Andre Onana, Nick Pope, Jordan Pickford, and Bernd Leno with five clean sheets in sixteen games so far while Wes Foderingham’s 77 saves for Sheffield United has been the most by a goalkeeper for any team this season.

Arsenal have been in brilliant form since the arrival of Mikel Arteta and players like Bukayo Saka, who spear-headed Arsenal’s title challenge last season have been their main man coming into the current season as well. Apart from Saka, the arrival of Declan Rice from West Ham United has been one of the signings of the season so far.

The English man arrived for a price tag of over a hundred million and has been living up to the expectations at the Emirates this season. Another summer arrival along with Rice is former Chelsea man and Champions League winner, Kai Havertz.

Havertz had a rocky start to his Arsenal career but has gone on to become an important player as the season has progressed. The German international has so far scored three league goals in his Arsenal career and would be looking forward to further adding up to his tally in upcoming Gameweeks.

Players like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus who arrived from Manchester City have also been pivotal for Mikel Arteta and co. Arsenal are currently second in the table, battling out with the likes of Liverpool for the top spot.

After Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah, the top goal-scorer in the Premier League this season is Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son. The South Korean forward has scored 10 Premier League goals so far, the latest of them coming in the 4-1 against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United on Sunday.

Following Son is West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen who has been in some extraordinary goal-scoring form this season. The West Ham midfielder has scored 9 goals so far and is currently the fourth top-scorer in the League.

Other players on the top goal scorer’s list are Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan, Bournemouth’s Dominik Solanke, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins with eight goals apiece. With 22 Gameweeks to go, it’s going to be interesting to see how the race for the title and the Golden Boot takes shape with top players battling out for collective and individual accolades.
