Ramos, Reus, and Stars Who Could Join Lionel Messi in MLS

The Major Soccer League (MLS) have always attracted footballers who have reached the twilight of their careers. Some of the top athletes from different European leagues have graced the United States in recent years. With the summer window approaching, let’s take a look at some of the big names who can make their switch to MLS towards the business end of the current campaign.

Which players are expected to join MLS in the summer?

The Spanish defender is set to leave Sevilla when his contract with his boyhood club expires at the end of this season. Sergio Ramos, 38, is reportedly in advanced talks with American side San Diego, who are set to make their MLS debut in 2025. The Real Madrid legend has been linked to several MLS clubs in the past, most notably Inter Miami.

Marco Reus

The Borussia Dortmund legend has already announced his departure at the end of this season. The 34-year-old attacker came through the ranks at BVB academy and made his mark at the Signal Iduna where he has accumulated 169 goals and 130 assists in 426 competitive appearances for the Black and Yellow. Marco Reus has reportedly been linked with MLS side St. Louis and the talks are currently at a preliminary stage.

Nacho Fernandez

The veteran defender is set to end his 23-year alliance with Real Madrid this summer after refusing to extend his contract. The Real Madrid captain will reportedly turn down offers from Saudi Arabia and push for a move to the MLS. Nacho’s interest to the MLS suggests that the league has been successful in attracting some of the biggest stars from elite European clubs.

Olivier Giroud

This transfer has already been confirmed. AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has completed his highly-anticipated move to LAFC where he will reunite with his fellow countryman Hugo Lloris who joined the side last season. The veteran goalscorer has scored 14 goals in Serie A this season and will join LAFC at the end of the European Championships in Germany.

The 37-year-old striker has spent the last three years with AC Milan and helped them secure the Serie A title in his debut campaign.
