Rasmus Hojlund Interview sparks controversy and ‘death threats’!

Manchester United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund appeared earlier in an interview on one of United’s biggest fan channels, The United Stand, which now finds itself in the midst of controversy after staff members of The United Stand received ‘death threats’ post the Rasmus Hojlund interview.

Rasmus Hojlund Interview: What happened?

The United Stand has earned itself a reputation due to the constant critical nature of the channel concerning Man United’s players. So when Rasmus Hojlund agreed to appear on the show it was reported that several figures in the Red Devils’ dressing room weren’t content with the Danish striker. Although, the disagreement between the players seems minor as it hasn’t affected United’s performance and bond on the pitch.

However, it has now been reported that post the Rasmus Hojlund interview, several staff members of the United Stand have received abuse and ‘death threats’ on social media from fans from everywhere. The owner of the United Stand, Mark Goldbridge, has amassed an astounding following ever since the inception of the channel. His nature of constantly criticizing players seems to have rubbed fans the wrong way as well as he has also received several threats. Allegedly Goldbridge has received death threats warning him that he is “a dead man walking”. The founder of The United Stand has also allegedly been threatened to stay away from Old Trafford or he would be harmed otherwise.

Police involved post Rasmus Hojlund Interview:

In the aftermath of the threats and Rasmus Hojlund’s interview, it seems that the Greater Manchester police have intervened and stepped in to investigate the matter. The police have confirmed that they have spoken to the victims and that they are currently piling information while verifying facts.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mark Goldbridge said, “ I totally understand that football is a passionate and divisive sport, and that people are free to decide and have an opinion on what content they consume. However, the pile-on some of our staff were subject to over the weekend was incredibly sad to witness. To be threatening people’s lives yet again evidences the vile pack mentality that exists on social media.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Mark Goldbridge and his channel the United Stand has found itself in the middle of controversy. He has often received hate comments and various threats regarding his opinions and critical nature on social media. The United Stand is one of the biggest fan channels of Manchester United with 1.83m followers on YouTube. Rasmus Hojlund had agreed to appear on the channel earlier in the season and finally did an interview earlier this year.
