Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig Player Ratings as Vinicius Junior’s goal enough for Los Blancos to progress on aggregate

Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig Match Summary

Real Madrid and RB Leipzig played out a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The result means Real qualify for the quarter-finals 2-1 on aggregate, having won 1-0 in Germany.

The first half of the match was a cagey affair as the teams shared the ball for nearly equal periods of time. The hosts had some good chances but none of their three attempts were on target. Meanwhile, Leipzig had six attempts with one of those on target. Neither side created big opportunities to score as the match was goalless at half-time.

Carlo Ancelotti made an attacking change as he brought in Rodrygo for Eduardo Camavinga in the second half. This helped Real Madrid burst into life as their play in the final third became faster and smoother. Vinicius Junior scored a lovely goal to put the hosts 1-0 up in the 65th minute. Jude Bellingham provided an assist for the goal with a well-timed pass.

RB Leipzig were no pushovers, though, and scored through captain Willi Orban just three minutes later. The Hungarian did well to adjust his body and angle David Raum’s cross into the back of the net to make it 1-1 on the night. The German outfit had a great chance to level the tie on aggregate late on as Dani Olmo’s lobbed attempt hit the top of the crossbar.

However, Real Madrid held on to progress. On that note, let’s take a look at the player ratings for both sides.
