OFFICIAL: William Osula has completed his transfer to Newcastle United

Sheffield United striker William Osula has completed his impending move to Newcastle United after undergoing his medical tests on Wednesday. The Magpies have reportedly paid an initial £15 million with a further £5 million in bonuses.

Osula struggled to hit the back of the net for Sheffield last season, as the side got relegated to the Championship, but Newcastle believe that the youngster has the potential to become a top player in the Premier League. His arrival takes Newcastle’s spending to £63million in this transfer window.

“I’m very happy to be here,” Osula said. “It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.

“It’s a great opportunity, and as soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club if it came. It has come, and I’m really happy to be here.”

Alfie Gilchrist joins Sheffield United as a loanee for one season from Chelsea

Alfie Gilchrist finalised his loan-out move from Chelsea as the club announced the information on their official website. The 20-year old defender will be with The Blades for the next one season to gain more playing time in his career.

Gilchrist is Chelsea born and bred, joining The Blues at the age of 11. He made his senior debut when the London-based side played Crystal Palace last December. From then on, he went on to another 16 appearances and scored his first goal in a 6-0 victory over Everton.

Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist has agreed to join Sheffield United

The 20-year-old Chelsea academy graduate has agreed to team up with Chris Wilder’s Blades in the Championship next season. Gilchrist has agreed to join Sheffield United who finished at the rock bottom of the Premier League last season.

The young defender was not included in Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States, suggesting a possible move in the summer transfer window. Naturally a centre-back, Gilchrist turned 17 times last season in his breakthrough campaign under former manager Mauricio Pochettino in the right-back position.

He will become the second senior player to leave Chelsea on loan following Andrey Santos’ move back to Strasbourg.

Las Palmas signs Oli McBurnie after Sheffield United’s departure

La Liga outfit UD Las Palmas have signed Oli McBurnie as a free agent after the Scottish striker’s Sheffield United contract came to an end. McBurnie joined Sheffield for 20 million pounds in 2020 and since scored 26 goals in 144 appearances for the club.

He made 21 Premier League appearances with Sheffield during the 2023-24 season. McBurnie is now set for a new chapter in his career at Las Palmas. The 28-year-old is a 17-time Scotland international. He has played for clubs like Swansea, Barnsley, Chester, Bristol Rovers, and more during his career.

However, this is the first time McBurnie would be stepping out of the ranks of British football. Las Palmas finished 16th in La Liga last season. Whether McBurnie’s arrival could add to their strength remains to be seen. McBurnie has penned a deal until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Aston Villa sign former player on a free transfer from Sheffield United

Aston Villa has re-signed Cameron Archer from Sheffield United on a free transfer. The Midlands-based club earlier sold the player for a decent price tag of about £18 million to the Blades. During his stint at Sheffield United, Archer played 30 Premier League games and netted four goals. The striker gained a decent amount of exposure in a season marked by relegation blues for the Yorkshire-bound club.

A report by ‘The Sun’ suggests that Villa inserted a clause in his contract before selling him to Sheffield United. The clause guaranteed that the striker would return to Aston Villa if Sheffield got relegated from the Premier League. Sheffield United reportedly only paid an installment of about £3 million for the player out of his total valuation of £18 million. As things turned out, Villa got their player back as well as the initial installment money.
