Gianluigi Donnarumma’s Stunning Dive Denies Goal in PSG vs Dortmund game

PSG were in attack mode from the start of the game, and that left them vulnerable at the back. A swift counter was enough to give the Bundesliga side an easy chance, but the Italian stood until the last second and then dived to the left to parry the ball away.

The German side were in a 2v1 situation initially at half line when Adeyemi got the ball from Julian Brandt. However, Marquinhos managed to stick to his position and not give the German an easy run towards the goal.

The young winger drove into the box and decided not to take help from Niclas Füllkrug. He eased past the PSG captain right at the edge of the ball and Warren Zaïre-Emery was lucky to have not made contact while chasing from behind seconds before Adeyemi took the shot.

Gianluigi Donnarumma praised by Julio Cesar after PSG’s loss to Borussia Dortmund

He said:

“The saves are important because it keeps the team in the game, when the goalkeeper is called upon, he has to respond. He made two good saves, so he has the right confidence, and he was demonstrated his strengths up against Sabitzer. He had the speed to get down to the ground, he’s a very tall goalkeeper, big stature, but he still reacted.”
