Vitor Roque Rejects Saudi Pro League’s Second Offer, Barcelona’s Future Uncertain

Vitor Roque, the 19-year-old Brazilian forward who joined Barcelona in January 2024 for nearly €30 million, is reported to be once again at the centre of transfer speculation. Despite his recent move to the Spanish club, Roque has turned down a second offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, indicating that he is exploring other options this summer.

Earlier, Al-Hilal, the reigning Saudi Pro League champions, had extended an offer to Roque, presenting him with the chance to play alongside prominent players like Neymar and Ruben Neves. Such an opportunity could have provided Roque with substantial support in the attacking third. However, it appears Roque is holding out for an offer from a European club or seeking assurances from Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s new manager, about receiving more playing time.

Roque’s limited involvement in the 2023-24 season likely influences his decision to consider other opportunities. During his first season with Barcelona, Roque made only 16 appearances, with just two starts in La Liga. Despite his restricted game time, he managed to score twice, including goals in consecutive matches against Osasuna and Alaves. This sporadic involvement could be motivating his desire to secure a more significant role elsewhere.
