Club Brugge staged a comeback to defeat Sporting CP 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday at the Jan Breydel stadium. They secured full three points thanks to substitute Casper Nielsen’s winner. The game was a close encounter with the Belgian side looking threatening and Sporting were unable to convert their time with the ball into potential goalscoring opportunities.
The Portuguese side made a dream start going ahead after just three minutes with the help of Geny Catamo’s rebound shot after Geovany Quenda hist the post. They dominated the game in the early part of the game but Brugge hit back when Eduardo Quaresma deflected Christos Tzolis’ shot to put it behind the net for an equaliser. The first half also saw a penalty being awarded to Sporting, which was later overturned by VAR.
