Post-international breaks in an early kick-off on Saturday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspurs hosted West Ham United in a dramatic London Derby clash at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, in the opening fixture of game week 8 in the Premier League 2024/25 season.

The hosts staged a compelling 4-1 comeback to secure the much-needed victory against the city rivals West Ham to boost their morale after the latest upset at the hands of Seagulls. At the full-time whistle, Agne Postecoglou led the Lilywhites to secure their 4th league win, while West Ham have tolerated the same amount of defeats in their league campaign so far.

Vicario was decent in making several key saves, though he could not do much about Kudus’s goal after defenders left him unmarked to take the shot.

The Sweden International pulled Spurs back into the contest, netting the leveller by cutting in onto his left foot and then firing the ball into the near post to beat West Ham’s keeper.

He brought the balance in the midfield was tasked with holding a role alongside two creative midfielders, and scored his 2nd goal for the club by making a late run to finish the chance inside the box.

James Maddison (7.5/10)

Maddison assisted for the equaliser propelling through the midfield to slide down the ball into Kulusevski who powered a left-footed shot into the goal and got replaced in the second half.

Johnson was in fine form on the right wing, although he did not find the back of the net despite taking five shots in the came.

The striker was subbed for Richarlison in the 80th, after playing decent upfront in holdup plays and creating an important chance.

The Spurs captain marked his return from injury by delivering a sparkling performance involving in two goals, creating a couple of chances and five shots in total. He scored the 4th goal on the break and charged into the box to take a shot after stunning step-overs to beat Areola on the near post.

This huge 4-1 triumph against Hammers came as a great relief for Ange Postecoglu after their recent disappointing 3-2 defeat to Brighton, as his side had a statement to prove in front of home fans. Spurs began the second half all gun blazing and completed a stunning comeback at home, Postecoglu’s side played fluid and attacking football scoring thrice within 15 minutes and taking home all three points, a lot of positives, all the substitutions were on point from the Australian boss right from the introduction of Pape Sarr.

Only played 60 minutes in the midfield and made way for the incoming Carlos Soler.

Another poor outing from the Brazilian playmaker failed to create chances was looked awful in keeping the ball his error also led to the equalising goal.

The Hammer’s skipper put relentless efforts into his game worked his socked off in going forward and tacking back to defend, and assisted Kudus for the only West Ham goal.

Apart from a few good holdup plays and dribbles, Antonio failed to make any major impact in leading the line as the number nine.

Mohammed Kudus (7.5/10)

Kudus bagged the opener for the Hammers and looked good until sent off in the 85th minute following a feisty altercation with Mikey Van de Ven and Malang Sarr found the winger guilty of shoving Spurs players after VAR overturned a yellow card into Red.
