In the upcoming summer transfer window, Arsenal arer reportedly considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons, currently on loan at RB Leipzig.
Clubs in Race to sign Xavi Simons
According to Sport BILD, the Gunners are among the ‘top clubs’ expressing interest in the 20-year-old Dutch talent, alongside Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan.
Simons, an attacking playmaker, has been on Arsenal’s radar for a while, and the club nearly secured his services before the 2023/24 season.
However, PSG activated a €6 million (£5.1 million) buyback clause, subsequently loaning him to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for the season. The midfielder has made a significant impact, contributing six goals and nine assists in 26 appearances.
While Leipzig are keen on extending Simons’ loan, PSG are yet to make a final decision on the midfielder’s future. The report suggests that Arsenal, along with Barcelona and Inter Milan, are closely monitoring Simons ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Bayern Munich have also entered the scene, creating a competitive landscape for the talented midfielder.

Simons’ profile is set to rise further as he participates in Euro 2024 with the Netherlands national team, making him a sought-after prospect in the upcoming transfer window. Arsenal, in particular, sees him as a potential addition to bolster their midfield creativity and attacking prowess.
Arsenal chasing Simons from last 2 years
Despite the competition, securing Simons would fulfil Mikel Arteta’s apparent two-year scouting mission, aiming to add a player of his calibre to Arsenal’s squad.
The Gunners’ interest is heightened by Simons’ impressive track record in goal contributions, providing an additional cutting edge to their final third.
While Arteta’s midfield trio is currently well-stacked, Simons could offer valuable depth, especially in scenarios where key players like Martin Odegaard face injuries or require rest.
As the summer approaches, the football community eagerly awaits the resolution of Simons’ future, with multiple European heavyweights vying for his signature.
