Despite it being over a decade since they last were a part of a title race, Manchester United are still one of the most supported clubs in the world. With that, comes its own unique pressure. Erik Ten Hag almost succumbed to those expectations but an FA Cup triumph meant that the new administration have kept him and backed him. Realistically, they should once again be aiming to qualify for the Champions League.
#3 Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez is the only fixed starter at the heart of Manchester United’s defence. Theq QQ TdS Argentine had established himself as one of the best centre backs in the English game. However, he spent a large chunk of last season out with an injury and as a result United were very fragile defensively.
He is aggressive and tough tackling and his leadership is also very influential. The former Ajax man is also extremely comfortable on the ball and takes a lot of responsibility in build up. Martinez is expected to partner either Harry Maguire or Mattijs de Ligt at the centre of the defence.
#2 Bruno Fernandes
United’s club captain and without a doubt their best player, Bruno Fernandes is at the heart of everything good at the club. Last season, he had 10 goals and 8 assists from midfield. He is their main creative hub and scores pretty frequently as well.
There are often complaints that the Portuguese playmaker does not turn up in big games. But ever since his signing, he has carried them through stretches of fixtures at once. His work off the ball is exemplary as well and that is why United fans adore him.
#1 Alejandro Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho has already broken through and established himself as a starter. This is the season he makes his performances count in terms of statistics as well. Like last season, he will almost certainly play nearly every game, fitting in on either wing as per the need of the team.
Garnacho’s best trait is his willingness to do everything for the team and not give up on any ball. He will run at his fullback all game and shoot whenever he has the opportunity, which is a really good attribute to have. Garnacho has already started the season with a bang, scoring a fantastic goal in United’s Community Shield loss to Manchester City.
